Regular teeth cleaning and dental exams are important to maintaining a healthy smile and preventing larger issues. Dental cleanings and professional dentist exams every 6 months can help reveal early signs of oral diseases before you even know about them, prevent oral health complications and lower your healthcare cost in the long-run. Our friendly dentists & staff focus on prevention rather than restorative care in a comfortable and pain free environment to help maintain a patient’s healthy teeth and gums for life!
what to expect during a dental exam
The first step of a regular dentist exam is a thorough examination for early signs of tooth decay, gum disease and oral cancer. We often take digital X-rays to get a closer look at the roots of the patient’s teeth and to check for hidden cavities without exposing the patient to much of the radiation associated with traditional X-rays.
During some teeth cleanings, a deep-cleaning process called scaling and root planing will remove tartar, which is hardened plaque and cannot be removed by brushing and flossing alone. Finally, the patient’s teeth are polished to remove any surface stains and flossed for a clean and fresh feeling.
In any and all dental cleanings and treatments, the patient’s comfort is our top priority. Our gentle and friendly staff will ensure the entire visit is pleasant and pain free. For apprehensive patients & children we offer a wide array of sedation options to help avoid even the slightest anxiety.
