No one should be afraid of visiting the dentist
At Moore & Pascarella, we believe that great dentistry stems from great experiences at the dentist, which is why we’re so committed to patient comfort. We offer a wide range of sedation options to ensure your visit is comfortable & pain-free. This enables us to get more done during each visit so you can achieve the healthy, beautiful smile you’ve always wanted. Our dentists will work with you to help determine which of our safe & relaxing options are right for you. Different sedation options are offered at both of our office locations, please get in touch today if you have any questions.
About Oral Conscious Sedation
Oral conscious sedation allows a patient to be in a comfortable state between being asleep and awake throughout an entire visit. To achieve this, we administer a combination of medications, which have been used safely for years and have found a home in dentistry for both kids and adults.
After being sedated, patients are free of anxiety, lose sense of time, and often have little to no memory of the treatment. This is an excellent option for an apprehensive patient for any dental procedure, often allowing us to complete more treatment in a single appointment.
Other sedation options:
Nitrous oxide sedation (laughing gas)
A combination of odorless nitrous oxide and oxygen commonly known as laughing gas is breathed through a nasal mask to give a sensation of relaxation and euphoria. The patient remains awake and aware with reduced anxiety Nitrous can also be used for children and is also a helpful tool to ensure they are more comfortable.
Local anesthesia
Even the slightest discomfort can be easily eliminated using local anethesia. There are multiple types of local anesthetic, some even are needleless, each suited for different types of procedures and situations. Our gentle Doctors will keep you comfortable throughout the whole appointment. The numbness, in time, will wear off completely usually lasting from less than an hour to several hours.
Anxiolysis (or minimal) sedation
A pharmacologically induced state of consciousness where an individual is awake but has decreased anxiety to facilitate coping skills, retaining interactive ability.
Oral conscious (minimal or moderate oral) sedation
Sedation via pill form that puts the patient in a minimally depressed level of consciousness. At Moore & Pascarella, we only offer oral conscious sedation in our Red Bluff office but we do offer other sedation options at both our Red Bluff and Redding office locations.
